About the Millan Centre

The Millan Centre is a dedicated community centre serving women and girls in the Manningham and Heaton areas of Bradford. We offer a diverse range of educational, social, and health-related activities aimed at supporting and empowering our local community.

As a charitable organisation and company limited by guarantee, the Millan Centre operates under the oversight of a six-member Management Committee. This committee holds overall responsibility for the Centre’s direction and governance. Our committed team of full- and part-time staff work collaboratively to deliver our programmes and services.

Our Mission

Established in 1988 by a group of adult education tutors working closely with local women, the Millan Centre was founded to meet a vital community need. The Centre was designed as a purpose-built facility in the heart of Manningham, providing an accessible and welcoming space with childcare provisions. The aim was to create a place where women could socialise, learn English, and access support services within easy reach of their homes.

Today, the Millan Centre remains the only dedicated provision in the area specifically serving women and girls. We maintain our independence and continue to operate through funding from grant-making bodies and partnerships with other organisations.
